Zofran Linked to Birth Defects Risks

Zofran Birth Defects Lawyer. We help consumers nationwide.

A recent Valisure study released in May 2021 draws a frightening link between certain types of cancer and as many as 78 sunscreen products. The products in question have been found to contain benzene, a chemical with known carcinogenic properties. The Centers for Disease Control say that benzene causes damage to the eyes, skin, and lungs when inhaled as a gas. Benzene is linked to certain types of cancers including acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), multiple myeloma, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. If you or a loved one were diagnosed with cancer following the use of sunscreen that, unbeknownst to you or your doctor, contains benzene, you may be entitled to compensation.

AJK Legal is currently investigating sunscreen claims which may have lead to certain cancers. We work with distinguished firms across the nation to help consumers find the best medical care and achieve the best possible results with their claims. We can help you recover the maximum compensation available for your injuries and damages - the best part is, you pay no fees unless we actually achieve a recovery in your case. About the Zofran Lawsuits

In June 2015, the first lawsuits were filed against GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), the makers of the pharmaceutical anti-nausea Zofran. The Federal Drug Administration only approved Zofran to treat chemotherapy, radiation and postsurgical patients, but GSK chose to market Zofran to doctors and pregnant women as an antidote to morning sickness. For more than a decade, millions of pregnant women across the United States were prescribed Zofran, usually during the first trimester when nausea and vomiting are most common. Recent research has revealed that the drug can cause cardiovascular complications in mothers and heart defects in the fetus. The risk of atrial heart defects has been found to increase by 50% with the use of Zofran. Congenital malformations, including cleft lips and cleft palates, have also been linked to Zofran.

FAQ's

What You Should Do if You Have a Contaminated Product?

The FDA recommends that you stop using sunscreen products identified with benzene. You should check the list on Valisure to see if the product you use is listed. Products that don’t have benzene are safe to use and you should continue to use them to prevent skin cancer. You should not throw contaminated sunscreen products in the trash. They are considered hazardous waste and should be appropriately disposed of to prevent causing harm.
